Lecture for pupils of primary schools and kindergartens

  • Meeting with canistherapy (what exactly is canistherapy? What is dog used for? What does the dog have to accomplish? Can other animals be used in animal therapy? Which animals and how do we call certain animal therapies (hippotherapy, cat therapy, cavia therapy, …)? On the lectures we bring mice, hamsters, by which we are sure that they won’t bite.
  • Example of dog training (apart from classic commands, we can show commands such as “dance” or “crawl”, and commands by gesticulation).
  • Children can pet the dog, give it a command, or carry it around.
  • Educational goals adapted to children’s age (from math for example: “count how many paws have 4 dogs?” or “how many claws have 7 dogs?” Here can children touch the dog and they will found out they have 5 claws on front paws, and 4 on the back paws. Then individually they have to count the correct result.
  • How should children treat dogs, how to read its mimics. Whether the dogs wants to play, or maybe it’s tired, angry,... getting familiar with a dog breed. When and to what it was bred.
  • Final reflective dialog (we will repeat what have we taught and what the children understood).
It is not just a classic lecture, but of course everything is explained in detail, and showed through form of examples ideal for children.

Children have close to such approach and find these informations interesting. We are successful to teach the lectures in an interactive way, which helps children to focus, and we give them space to ask questions.

It happens that some children are afraid of a dog, little girls may be afraid of mice as well. After the lecture these fears are gone (if the child had a smaller phobia) or the child can say, that they don’t fear this specific dog anymore. That is also a great success.
In case the child is allergic to dog fur, you don’t have to worry, Toy Poodle with which we use in canistherapy doesn’t have a fur, but hair, which have to be trimmed. If some children have allergy on mice and hamster fur, please report it to us in advance and we will not bring animals with us.

  • You can come with children to us, or we can come visit you (Prague and close surroundings).
Please reserve a specific date in sufficient advance.
Lecture with pupils can be arranged on: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

  • Settled therapy, lecture,... will be in date and time according to mutual agreement between the provider of the service and the client (primary school, kindergarten, retirement home etc.) through e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Lectures and therapies can be accompanied by an animal, which is in good psychological and health condition. Good health condition of a dog is when it is in a good physical condition (healthy looking hair/fur, without any skin injuries or outflow from eyes, ears, or anus). Good psychological condition is when the dog is happy and willing to co-work. Any manifestation of tiredness (yawning, scratching, sniffing, …) is a reason to end the therapy or lecture. We protect the psychological condition of the dog before “burning-out”.
The client guarantees that no individual allergic to animal fur will attend the therapy. It has to be noted in advance (you don’t have to worry about Toy Poodle since it doesn’t shed its hair. But we also use mices and hamsters to which people may be allergic).
