Exercising pilates

PilatesEven though the method Pilates was developed and propagated by Joseph Pilates by the start of the 20th century, from the physiotherapeutic point of view it respects the new findings about the musculoskeletal system of the humans. It is a system of exercises which are trying to achieve the controlled movement of the body and put emphasis on the movement coming from the center of the body. Under the term center of the body (sometimes also called „core” or „deep stabilizing system of the spine”) is hiding a group of deep inlayed muscles which secure the stability of the trunk and its straightened posture.

Exercising pilates is focusing on these six areas:

  • Concentrating on the movement
  • Controlling the movement
  • The movement is coming out of the center of gravity
  • Continuity of the movement
  • Accuracy of the movement
  • Breathing

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

During the pilates class you will be exercising on the mats with your own body weight, and you will learn how to healthily and functionally move and sense your body.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO BRING WITH MYSELF?

Bring with yourself clothes in which you will be exercising. By us we exercise barefooted, because as physiotherapists we are aware of the importance of the correct function of the foot for correct function of all muscles and joints of the body.

WHY SHOULD I VISIT YOU?

Pilates classes are nearly individual, we exercise in small groups of clients. The lecturer has that way the option to individually control whether the clients execute the exercise correctly. You will feel after the classes that you really enjoyed the class.

WHO LEADS THE CLASSES?

Pilates exercises are by us led by university educated physiotherapists, who put emphasis on keeping the correct body posture and compensation of incorrect movement patterns, which you use throughout the day while sitting in front of a computer, in a car, etc.

Pilates method respects the new findings from a physiotherapeutic field. This method can be successfully used as a prevention against wrong body posture and to that connected pain of the musculoskeletal system, it can be also used as a method, which deals with the formed imbalance in the musculoskeletal system. Pilates exercises teach people to sense their body better, and they can healthily and functionally move around.

Come and exercise with us!
